Diabetic Clinic

Montgomery Medical Practice advises diabetic patients to have six monthly diabetic review appointments.  The administration team will contact the patient with a recall letter that asks patients to make a designated Diabetic Health Care Assistant appointment.  The Health Care Assistant will collect various blood and urine samples as well as measure height, weight and blood pressure. The Health Care Assistant will also carry out the annual diabetic foot check if the patient is due. After the results have been reviewed in the practice a member of the administration team will contact the patient to inform them to make a follow-up appointment with a practice nurse for the results.  The nurses will discuss the results and treatment with the  GP  and then communicate these to the patient in their appointment or by telephone.

Minor Surgery

Dr Griffiths, Dr Stratton and Alex Strivens perform some minor surgery tasks in the surgery such as incisions, excisions and injecting of joints.  Patients are advised to see or speak to a clinician before they make an appointment for minor surgery.

Family Planning and Sexual Health

Doctors and nurses at the surgery offer contraceptive advice to patients. If it is the first time you are starting contraception you are advised to make a routine appointment with a clinician who will run through all contraception available. If you require a repeat prescription of the pill please make a routine appointment with one of the practice nurses.  Dr Griffiths fits coils in the surgery and offers a contraceptive implant service.    Please discuss this option with a nurse or doctor before making an appointment.

Asthma/COPD/Lifestyle/Hypertension/Travel/Well Man/Woman clinics

Our Practice Nurses all perform these clinics.  If possible please specify to the receptionists when making the appointment what the appointment is for.

Childhood Immunisations

The practice holds a childhood immunisation clinic every Wednesday afternoon.  The Local Health Board contacts the patients with appointment times.  If you are unable to make your appointment please contact a member of the reception team.
