Physician Associates
Physician associates (PAs) are healthcare professionals who work as part of a multidisciplinary team under the supervision of a named senior doctor (a General Medical Council (GMC)-registered consultant or GP). While they are not medical doctors, PAs can assess, diagnose and treat patients in primary, secondary and community care environments within their scope of practice.

Nurse Practitioner
A Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse (RN) who has completed additional courses and specialised training (Bsc Hons). Nurse practitioners can work with or without the supervision of a physician. They take on additional duties in diagnosis and treatment of patients, and in many states they may write prescriptions.

Shian has completed extended training which enables her to diagnose and treat certain illnesses.
Practice Nurses
Our Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. A practice nurse will be involved in almost every aspect of patient care and treatment, undertaking such tasks as:
• Treating small injuries.
• Acute medical problem
• Healthy living advice.
• Helping people manage long
term conditions.
• Health screening.
• Family planning.
• Carry out cervical Smears.
• Running vaccination
programmes (e.g. against flu).
Healthcare Assistants
HCA’s can conduct new patient checks, phlebotomy, change of dressings, administer some vaccinations, take blood pressure readings and complete ECG's.
Administration
Receptionists/Administration staff provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. Please provide the team with as much information on why you are contacting the practice. They can provide basic information on services, results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. They perform important tasks such as dealing with appointments and patient records.

Keeping the Practice Clean
Trainees
As a training practice we often have medical students, Physician Associate students and training doctors working in the practice. You may have an appointment at the surgery or receive a home visit from them. They work under supervision of the GP partners at the practice.
