DR DONNA GRIFFITHS

Dr Griffiths started in Montgomery back in 1994 as a trainee and returned in 1996 as a locum and then became a partner. She is originally from Newtown, married, and lives on a farm with her husband, 4 teenagers and her fabulous dog Jack. Dr Griffiths works full-time in Montgomery and when not at work you will often see her around the area running/walking with Jack. She has a special interest in women’s health and undertakes the implants and coils in Montgomery. Dr Griffiths is the GP lead in palliative care and undertakes minor surgery.

DR STEFANIE LOYNES

Dr Loynes graduated from Keele university in 2009. She completed her foundation and GP training in North Staffordshire with hospital rotations at the Royal Stoke University Hospital and worked as a salaried GP in Newcastle Under Lyme for 3 years before relocating to Powys and joining the team at Montgomery in October 2017. Dr Loynes is our lead GP for our GP trainees and also looks after our dispensary. She has clinical interests in dermoscopy and transgender care. She is our Caldicott Guardian. Her outside interests include all things food related, live music, crochet, sewing and exploring beautiful Mid Wales with her Border Collie, husband and two boys.

DR RICHARD STRATTON

Dr Stratton first graduated in Pharmacy in 1987 from the University of Bath. After a career in management and leadership he made a bold life change and graduated in medicine from Nottingham University in 2007. Training placements in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire followed and Richard qualified as a GP in 2012. After ten years of Partnership in Nottinghamshire he and his wife made a move to Powys. As a native of Wrexham and an ardent fan of the football club this was great timing. Joining Montgomery Medical Practice in 2022 Richard is prescribing and respiratory lead GP. He also holds a role as Assistant Medical Director with Powys Teaching Health Board. When not at work he is a keen gardener and cyclist and loves to explore the beauty of the Welsh countryside with his artist wife. Oh, and he drinks good coffee, lots of it.

DR JOE KALLARACKEL

Dr Kallarackel Graduated from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala, India. Initial training was in Paediatrics for eight years, starting 1996. Completed General Practice training in Northwest Deanery. Dr Kallarackel worked as a GP Principal from 2004 to 2021 in Burnley, Lancashire. He moved to Claremont Bank Surgery, Shrewsbury and worked there for over a year from April 2021 to June 2022. Started at Montgomery Medical Practice from July 2022. Dr Joe’s clinical interests besides general practice are Paediatrics, minor surgery, joint injections, and Diabetes. My hobbies include reading, travelling, and gardening including working on the allotment.

Physician Associates

Physician associates (PAs) are healthcare professionals who work as part of a multidisciplinary team under the supervision of a named senior doctor (a General Medical Council (GMC)-registered consultant or GP). While they are not medical doctors, PAs can assess, diagnose and treat patients in primary, secondary and community care environments within their scope of practice.

Our Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. A practice nurse will be involved in almost every aspect of patient care and treatment, undertaking such tasks as: • Treating small injuries. • Acute medical problem • Healthy living advice. • Helping people manage long term conditions. • Health screening. • Family planning. • Carry out cervical Smears. • Running vaccination programmes (e.g. against flu).

Healthcare Assistants

Receptionists/Administration staff provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. Please provide the team with as much information on why you are contacting the practice. They can provide basic information on services, results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. They perform important tasks such as dealing with appointments and patient records.

Trainees

As a training practice we often have medical students, Physician Associate students and training doctors working in the practice. You may have an appointment at the surgery or receive a home visit from them. They work under supervision of the GP partners at the practice.
